I acquired my first Flat Coated Retriever in 1983, who became the foundation bitch for my line. "Gale" became Ch. and O.T.Ch.Tealsnest Nite 'N Gale UDT JH WCX TDI Can. CDX HOF, who achieved several H.I.T.s, H.C.s, 199 scores and was nationally ranked for many years in obedience competition. Gale's mother, Ch. and O.T.Ch. Berncroft Branta UD WC (owned by Marie Wickhorst of Tucson, AZ) , was the first Obedience Trial Champion Flat Coated Retriever in the breed's history, and Gale with sister "Ginger", Ch. and O.T.Ch. Tealsnest Gin Rummy UD (owned by Audrey Van Beek, Green Bay, WI), became the first litter mate O.T.Ch Flat Coats. Gale also lived to the ripe old age of 16+ years! Gale was bred only once, but a litter of 7 puppies produced 2 breed champions, 2 tracking titled dogs, 4 obedience titled dogs, 1 H.I.T. dog, 4 WCs, 3 WCXs, 3 JHs and 1 Senior Hunter.
